What Is My IP Address?

Every device that connects to the internet is assigned an IP address — a numerical label that identifies it on the network. Your IP address is visible to every server you make a request to, including this one. This page reads your IP directly from the incoming request headers on our server, so the result is accurate regardless of your browser or operating system.

IPv4 vs IPv6

IPv4 addresses are 32-bit numbers written in four dot-separated groups (e.g. 93.184.216.34). IPv6 is the newer 128-bit format written in colon-separated hex groups (e.g. 2606:2800:220:1:248:1893:25c8:1946). Most internet traffic still travels over IPv4, but IPv6 adoption is growing as the pool of available IPv4 addresses is exhausted. Which format you see here depends on your ISP and network configuration.

What is a User-Agent?

The User-Agent header is a string your browser sends with every request. It identifies your browser name, version, operating system, and rendering engine. Websites use it to serve compatible content, and analytics tools use it to report traffic by browser and OS.

What is Accept-Language?

The Accept-Language header tells servers which languages you prefer, in order of priority. Browsers set this automatically based on your OS and browser language settings. It is used for content negotiation — for example, a server may return a French page if your first preference is fr.

How is the IP detected?

The IP is read server-side from the CF-Connecting-IP header (set by Cloudflare), falling back to X-Forwarded-For and X-Real-IP. This means the address shown is the real public IP of your connection, not a browser-reported value that could be spoofed by client-side JavaScript.
